Making Of A Conqueror
DAY 1: CONQUERORS IN CHRIST
*Rom. 8:31-37
In Joshua 1:5, God promises to be with Joshua, to not forsake him. This same love & commitment is described in Romans. God is for us, is gracious, and makes us righteous. He does this through the person of Christ and His work (described in v. 34) – His death & resurrection and His advocating for His people before the Father.
Nothing—no trials, dangers, person, or situations—separates us from the immense love of Christ. This isn’t some pedestrian affection that goes away if we don’t “do as God says.” God loves unconditionally. Nothing separates us from His love. Further highlight of our campaign verse (v. 37) shows that we are more than conquerors not in & of ourselves but in Christ. Those who are in Christ, unified with Him, are
overcomers of distress, tribulation, persecution, and all other areas of the human experience that present an obstacle to our expression of love for God & our experience of His presence in our lives. Remember, we are not the focus here. God is. It is by nothing less than the radical love of Christ that we can conquer the mountains of our lives, and it is all for the glory of the Creator.
We have mountains, but we don’t overcome anything fully until we truly believe that Christ is Lord of our life, every area of it. This is faith. It’s not a one-time decision, but a daily, life-long grind of seeking Him, loving Him, and submitting to Him & His will. Whether it’s unconfessed sin, brokenness in relationships, or habits or attitudes that contradict God’s will for you, these mountains can loom over us as we seek the Lord. Place them at the foot of the throne of grace and pray for forgiveness and for leading to repentance.
INSPECT: Think of 3 words to describe God’s love shown us through Christ.
REFLECT: How do these words shape how you think God sees you and how you view God?
PROJECT: What are the mountains of your life? Try to name as many as you can and place them under God’s authority. God does not distance Himself from us because of our struggles, but we do distance ourselves from Him when we hide, project false contentment or strength, or delight in sin. Bring such mountains out in the open before God and seek Him, knowing that victory is found in Christ.
