Sovereignty

1. God’s position of supreme authority and power. He rules over and owns everything because He made everything.
2. God has a predetermined plan and purpose for everything that happens in the universe.
3. God is not merely an observer detached from His creation. He is active in all history, time and space carrying out His rule and kingship according to His plan and purpose.

Ephesians 1:11 - “…he works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will.” (NIV)

Hebrews 1:3 - “…he upholds (sustains) the universe by the word of his power.” (ESV)

Providence

In order to carry out His plan and purpose God guards, guides, and governs all things. He causes and controls all that happens. This is called providence.
